Determined I will

It has been awhile since I have written but I wanted to share a poem that I wrote in dedication to my colleagues and friends at work. No matter what obstacle life may try to throw at you always remember that you can do it! Be Determined! πŸ™‚

“The difference between the impossible and the possible lies in a person’s determination”-Tommy Lasorda

Determined I will

You will never get there

You are not good enough

Words, Phrases breaking me to my core

As I walk through this journey called life

Broken I feel but in the midnight hour I rise and with a strong voice I cry

Determined I will!!!!

Succeed

Determined I will stand tall

No obstacle or mountain is too high for me to reach

Determined to fly beyond the stars

Determined I will!!!!

No matter the hours, days, weeks, months I will get to my goal

No matter what comes my way I am and I will see it through

Determined I will, Determined I can

Start Strong , Finish Strong

Onward, Upward I can see my goal!!

Determined I will!!!!

Never let anything stop you from achieving your goals, life may try to throw you twist and turns but its how you respond that will set you apart from rest.. It all starts with you and your mindset to go out and push through!

If you are reading this, I believe in you!

Say this saying three times…Determined I will!….Promise you it will be the jumpstart to reframing your mindset!

Be Great! πŸ™‚

Thanks for reading!

NBA Season!

nba33

It has been awhile since I last wrote, but I wanted to write a little something!

The highly anticipated NBA Season is well underway with legend players joining forces together in Carmelo Anthony and Paul George coming together on the same team. That will be fun to see how Russ, Melo, and Paul work with each other on the court.

Golden State is in its defensive title run and their season is already off to a fast start with alot of games left.

On the East Coast, Cleveland is adjusting to a new look no Kyrie Irving team as he and Isaiah Thomas traded places. It is going to be fun to see them and the roles they will play as well as staying healthy all season.

The Washington Wizards who are constantly on my radar started off 3-0 and dropped to 4-2 after a loss to Golden State and Lakers on their first west coast trip. John and Bradley are off to a hot start as they work the back court, John’s speed is on another level and it will be interesting to watch him play all season. (wizards are one of my favorite teams) I always look forward to watching Coach Brooks bring the best out of his team.

I haven’t watched a lot of games yet, due to working a lot of long hours but I’m sure all 30 teams have changed their game plans a little bit to accommodate the competition.

So we are only a couple weeks into the season, I want to know your thoughts on who you think will be the breakout team come the all-star break in February…Leave a comment below or hit my twitter @bballmypassion. -I will reply πŸ™‚

This post wasn’t going to be too long anyway, but I will try my best to stay consistent and find interesting topics to write about, If you have any suggestions or ideas please let me know, I’m open to anything!

As Always thanks for reading, and following! Enjoy the 2017-2018 NBA Season!

I will write again soon πŸ™‚

Will He Leave or Stay?….

kyrie

When news broke earlier this summer that Kyrie had requested a trade from the Cavs, most saw it as a fluke at first but then more developments revealed his frustrations with the team and his teammates.

In most team related environments whether it be sports or even the workplace, teammates can get fed up to the point where they feel like they be productive or have an active role and still be successful.

My guess is this Kyrie is at a crossroads within himself and he is trying to decide what is best for him, Does he stay or Does he take the opportunity to explore his options.

It doesn’t surprise me one bit this news comes out though, because the NBA thrives in the offseason with of course off season moves.

I’m most interested to see the end result from this, If you think Kyrie stays in Cleveland, does he demand more? or if he chooses to explore his other options does he take a pay cut to have a bigger role?

At the end of the day, He has to get paid but also make the best decision for him and his family.

Now I would like to know your thoughts, If kyrie stays what impact will he have this season; If he leaves which team would he best fit and why?

Share your thoughts in the comment section below

I think Kyrie stays in Cleveland…Guess we will see how this plays out!

As always thanks so much for reading, please feel free to share any feedback

I also have to thank my friend Kenric Lofton for providing me with the topic πŸ™‚

Round 3: Cavs? Warriors?

So it’s that time yet again! The NBA Finals are upon us and its none other than the Cavs and Warriors.

The saga continues and I’m super excited for this series. It is interesting to see who will come out on top and who will be the one to dominate the game.

It will be interesting to see the dynamic of this finals warriors team with Kevin Durant on the roster as well as the Splash Brothers and Draymond Green.

Cleveland is also in the hunt for a back to back title which is sometimes difficult to do but it will be interesting to watch.

Game 1 is tonight on ABC and everyone is tuning in, so I want to know your thoughts.

Who do you have winning the finals and in how many games, let me know!

I’ll give my answer in my next blog post in a couple of days, stay tuned πŸ™‚

This post is super short only because, I just wanted to post something lol

Next post will be like normal, as always if you have any comments or suggestions please comment below or tweet me @bballmypassion.

NBA Draft 2017

nba33

June 22, 2017, Alot of upcoming athletes lives will change.

The NBA Draft is a big gathering in which every team adds to its roster and ultimately pick their star player to help the franchise and bring a championship to the team.

I love watching the reactions of players as they are called as well as the trades that happen throughout.

I wanted to shed light on some notable draft picks from the past:

1996-Allen Iverson

2008-Derrick Rose

2010-John Wall

2011-Kyrie Irving

2016-Ben Simmons

2017-???

The players listed all have had a major impact on the game and the NBA itself from a business standpoint to keeping fans engaged. Also the players listed above were all drafted 1st overall for their teams. Usually being drafted first, there is a lot of expectations placed on you to perform at a high level. The perks of being drafted #1 comes with endorsement deals and other contracts to help build their brand.

Trust, excitement, anticipation of the season is at an all-time high once the draft ends but fans finally get to see the hard work their new franchise player has and will put in.

Who is your favorite draft pick? doesn’t have to be a #1 could be anybody. Β There have been so many players who have been drafted or undrafted who have left a major impact on their team. Let me know!

This blog is super short and sweet but I wanted to write a little something πŸ™‚

Thanks so much for reading and as always you can leave your feedback in the comments section or tweet me your suggestions @bballmypassion

Isaiah Thomas: His Big Heart

IT

It has been too long since my last post… so with that being said let’s dive right in.

As you all may know the NBA Playoffs have commenced and teams are now battling for that NBA Championship and bragging rights.

Of course I am a Wizards fan and wanted to see them do well which they did, but round 1 of the playoffs wasn’t about basketball as I observed a young Isaiah Thomas grieving over the loss of his sister. I saw the pain in his eyes and immediately knew how he was feeling. If you have ever lost someone close to you (sibling, parents, grandparent) then you know how Isaiah was feeling, at least I do.

As the Celtics prepared for game 1 against the Bulls, I could just feel all of the emotions and I began to wonder how he was going to play through so much pain. Then I remembered, his sister would want him to go out and play with his heart and for her. That is exactly what he did, watching the first three go down, the building erupted and I was just happy to see him on the floor.

The biggest observation I made during the first two games the Celtics loss, was the amount of emotion and heartfelt resilience the entire team showed. They rallied behind their star and tried their best to help ease the pain. I just loved how the team supported him through his difficult time.

Fast Forward to game 6 in Chicago, No Rondo at this point, the Celtics put on a shooting clinic and played for Chyna Thomas. I know she is watching from heaven proud of how strong her big brother was for.

I wanted to shine a light on Isaiah and his strength and how big his heart is. He did what he needed to do on the court and it paid off. They are now heading to the second round against the Wizards which will be a lot of fun!.

Lastly, To the Thomas Family,

My Thoughts and Prayers are with you during this difficult time.

Thanks everyone for reading and as always you can comment below your feedback or tweet me @bballmypassion.

Madness that is March!

nba33

As we all know March is the month teams make their push towards the playoffs and solidify their rankings in their respective conferences.

We see teams come alive and bring the spark night in and night out.

One of those teams has been the Washington Wizards! Since January they have gone 24-9 and having one of the best records in the NBA. It is good to see them come into their own and win games.

The Eastern Conference top spot race is tight and up for grabs. With a lot of games left to play it will be interesting to see who finishes #1 come playoff time. I am really excited to see how this season will end.

On the Western Conference side of things the quiet assassins San Antonio Spurs are now tied with the Golden State Warriors. The Warriors have lost their last few games, no panic for them, they have been in this situation before, but they know once the playoffs begin everyone’s record is 0-0. With Durant sidelined due to injury, the eyes will be on the Splash Brothers and the bench. The Warriors have already clinched a playoff spot becoming the fastest team to do so in NBA History. Losing a couple games here or there won’ hurt but they don’t want to lose too many.

March is the considered the finish strong month as the plunge towards the playoffs, NBA finals continues. I definitely will be watching and keeping my eye on the East and West :).

On the flip side, in college hoops March Madness towards the Final Four and National Championship begins March 16. Have you filled out your bracket yet now that the match-ups have been released. Who did you have in your final four?

Let me know and Comment Below!!

Tournament Season, Playoff Season best part of Β basketball is among us and I couldn’t be happier!!

I love my team:)

wizards

In my last post discussing my concern with the Wizards and their progress, I was wondering should I be concerned at all about the way in which their season was going.

They proved me wrong with winning 6 of their last 7 games with their only loss coming to the Pacers on December 19,2016.

Their record now is 13-15 after winning to the bulls and time and time again I see the strategies and advice that Coach Brooks playing out on the court in regards to using John’s speed as an advantage.

I also love the progress of the second unit which includes: Trey Burke who is getting his confidence and making better decisions while on the court, Jason Smith who from the perimeter is a very good shooter, Marcus Thornton who attacks the basket or makes a heads up play for himself.

The team as a whole is doing what they need to do night in and night out and finally seeing the success of their hard work. I am so proud of them and ready for the next game.

This post is short and sweet!

Western Conference Surprise!

nba33

We are almost a month into the season and it has already been a season of shake ups and scoring spree.

Anthony Davis has been on a tear scoring wise scoring over 100 points in his first 3 games this season.

Russell Westbrook was no surprise this season due to the fact he would basically be running the floor, only thing would be the team adjusting the people that left and the new editions to the team. Russell has almost if not triple doubled in every game. I can’t deny he is a beast on the court, it’s fun to watch him play.

The Golden State Warriors have been clicking and finally looking like the team we wanted to see with the edition of Kevin Durant. The sequence of threes from Steph, Klay, and Durant has been amazing to watch and I’m sure more fantastic plays are coming.

The rest of the western conference is stacking up nicely. I would be remissed if I didn’t mention Houston Rockets player James Harden. He is un-guardable right now lol. Harden has been on a scoring tear making it impossible for teams to get past them for wins. Houston will definitely Β be one to watch as the season goes on.

The biggest surprise to me this season is the Los Angeles Lakers! It was beginning of the Kobe free era and it was interesting to see how this young team with Β a few veterans would do this season. I have a renewed faith in this team to do very well and they have proven it. With a record right now of 6-5, the Lakers are holding up nicely and with the confidence they have going into each game, it makes watching them so much fun because they find numerous ways to finish games. I will definitely keep them on my radar throughout this season!

I hope you enjoy this quick read! NBA is back and in full effect πŸ™‚
