NFL Preseason…The Pregame

landon collins

August is here! which means end of summer and football!

It’s seems as though we just finished watching the Super Bowl.

I look at the preseason as the pregame because it is the final push for some players to prove they belong on their team. It is also the preview of some new look teams like the Cleveland Browns or teams that are rebuilding like the Pittsburgh Steelers and New York Giants.

The NFL is also under the microscope again with the fight against injustice in regards to minority players and how they are treated. News broke this week that Jay-Z has partnered with the NFL, after saying he wouldn’t perform at the super bowl. I think at this point in order to push change and make a real splash you have to “get in the game”. Most people and even some NFL players are disowning Jay-z for his decision because it looks as though he is out for money. Sometimes when you are trying to change a system that has been so rigged, you have to get off the bench and play. You have to get in good with the decision makers and become a decision maker yourself. It’s same way with Meek Mill’s Reform foundation. He partnered with Patriots owner Kraft, who a lot of people aren’t fond of but with his money and his platform, he can at least try to evoke change.

Most people think big change…HAPPENS OVERNIGHT or in an instant. Once we realize that it takes time and small steps everyday, you then will see the results. You shouldn’t stop fighting for something you really believe in even when you can’t see the big picture in the beginning.

I’m sure this will story throughout the entire NFL season, so I am going to definitely continue to read and follow up on this.

This is just the pregame getting us ready for the real game….It’s going to be a good one!

Let me know your thoughts..Who will be the top NFL team? How do you think the NFL will adapt to Justice Reform?… Did Jay-z make the right decision?

I appreciate everyone who  been reading!

Have a great week!

#ArmoredMind

12;46am..August 4, 2019,

As I am writing this so many thoughts are swirling through my head…..writing just helps me to clear my head when I have no one to talk too especially in the middle of the night.. just the reality…

I have been reading this a book by David Goggins called Can’t Hurt Me. If you have heard of him he was a Navy Seal and now a avid runner.. His book goes into detail about his life and his struggles to overcome and push through. I bought this book months ago, started reading put it down for awhile and decided to finish it.

I called this blog armored mind because it really struck me in a way that made me think about what hold me back from fully letting go and just living or even pushing through for that matter. Throughout the book David gives challenges of facing whatever is holding you down in the face and conquering head on. Sometimes you need a smack in the face to knock you back into reality.

Challenge 5 discusses visualization and the purpose of recognizing the obstacle stopping you from success. Obstacles can be anything on your mind that keeps from just saying YES. Most of the time it is your own self. I can be honest, I get in my own head especially when things don’t go my way. I overthink to the point where my mood will change and shut down.  After dealing with so much rejection in my life, when things don’t go exactly the way I SEE them, I question was it even worth it? Was it worth being in my feelings because I didn’t get what I wanted without knowing that better was on the way.

Alot of times, I have to take a step back, BREATHE and take it one day at a time…I am learning not to let my mind control me. What I mean by that is, I will never stop being me but I won’t hold myself back from just living my life and celebrating success and celebrating failures or rejections. It’s not always you, sometimes people don’t appreciate what they really have until it’s no longer accessible.

Having a armored mind, you can really embrace the failures, success, and just the WAIT period. I know this blog may be all over the place slightly lol but I wanted to just open up a little bit to those of you who read my blogs. I am perfect the way that I am, flaws and all.

I will leave you with an excerpt from David’s book Can’t Hurt Me:

pg.162: ” You can’t prepare for everything  but if you engage in strategic visualization ahead of time, you’ll be as prepared as you possibly can be. That also means being prepared to answer the simple questions. Why are you doing this? What is driving you toward this achievement? Where does the darkness you’re using as fuel come from? What has calloused your mind? You’ll need to have those answers at your fingertips when you hit a wall of pain and doubt. To push through, you’ll need to channel your darkness, feed off it, and lean on your calloused mind.”- David Goggins

I appreciate all of you who take the time out to read my blog it means alot! 🙂

Until next time…
