Football, Teammates…

fxa 4

Ever played sports in school? Ever tried out for a team and didn’t make it or was picked last?

If you answered yes ( me included) I have some news for you. No more being picked last lol.. FXA Sports is an adult sports league based out of VA that offers all sports. These sports include: Basketball, Flag Football, Soccer, Bar Sports just to name a few.Β  They have leagues throughout the entire year. You have casual, competitive, and elite play levels you can choose from, as well as co-ed teams. I love how everyone is involved and no one is left off a team. It is quite cool if you ask me.

These last two years I have had the opportunity to watch two of my friends play and win multiple championships. I think the count is at 8 (don’t quote on me on that) lol. If you are fan of football, then you will definitely love flag football. Men are naturally competitive and hate to lose. You put them on a field with some flags and just watch the magic happen.Β  The games are about a hour with a small halftime, some of these players are natural athletes, let me tell you. I wish they had replays because some of the plays I have seen have been amazing to where I would like to re-watch to see if I missed anything.

The key to this blog is this: If you love something and are passionate about it go after it and let nothing or no one stop you. Always support your friends even if it’s just for a hour. You never know how much your presence is felt or appreciated. Lastly, enjoy and have fun! At the end of the day it is all about having fun and team work and working toward a goal which in the football world is a championship and bragging rights until the upcoming season!

Next Week: March Madness Update…How are those brackets?

NFL Trades: WHEW CHILE…

shock

You probably saw the title of this week’s blog and have the same face as this guy…..lol I know I did! Man I’m still processing the ongoing trades that happened during the week of March 13th. We all knew Antonio Brown, and Le’veon Bell from Pittsburgh would both be leaving and moving on to other teams but what we didn’t know was the curve ball, ankle break trade that was coming. So if you are ready….Let’s jump in..

The Pittsburgh Steelers have been a staple team in the NFL for as long as I have been watching football(forever). I have been a football fan watching more games since I was 12, analyzing games for the last few years though, I really enjoy the business aspects of sports but that’s another blog to come. We all know the Steelers Big 3; Big Ben, AB, and Bell. Every team has their go to guys but as with any team players and coaching staff tend to grow apart and decisions about futures must be made. It is no secret that both Antonio and Le’veon had their own issues with their current team and pay etc. It is also no secret that they have been vocal about it which in some cases can be good but in most cases with high profiles players it’s sometimes not so good.Β  We never get the full story on things because we are not in the locker room, in practice, or even in the trenches. Teammates spend most of the season with their team, and as fans we only see the end result or what is reported to us without getting the full story. There are always three sides to every story: Side A, Side B, and the ultimate truth, which I always say God always knows before we even say anything. It was announced that Antonio would be traded to the Oakland Raiders( most people thought the Buffalo Bills )-can’t believe everything you read! Le’veon after much speculation and guessing from everyone finally announced he signed with New York Jets. Change is good! ( I am learning that all to well in my own life, to just embrace the changes life throws at you). It can only go up from here right?

I wish nothing but success and happiness to both Brown and Bell. At the end of the day, they are doing what is best for them! I am ready to see what the future holds for the Steelers as they rebuild, Raiders as they adapt, and Jets as they refuel. What are your thoughts? I would love to know….Are you happy, frustrated, don’t care, or waiting to see what happens like everyone else?

Moving On…..Heading to New York! Hang on and Buckle Up!

landon collins

Landon Collins, Landon Collins, Landon Collins…..Said his name so you if you don’t know who he is, well you are about to find out. He just signed a 6 year $84 million dollar deal to join the Washington Redskins in the Safety Position. We all know the best safety the redskins ever had whose life was cut short was Sean Taylor. Sean made such a impact in the short time he was here. Those will be big shoes to fill but Landon will do what needs to be done. The question came up regarding the number he would wear. #21 is sacred for Redskins fans(die hard fans at that). Clinton Portis said in a interview recently that he wouldn’t mind for someone to wear his number #26, he is finally okay with that. Sean’s number is sacred and should be retired by Washington so no one can ever wear that number again. Landon was gifted a game worn signed Sean Taylor jersey by Dan Snyder and that in itself would just give me chills. I hope Landon chooses to pick his own number and still pay homage to Taylor in any way he knows how. We honestly don’t know Washington’s motives, we know the Skins need some help. We have Peterson but if we want to potentially make a run in our division (NFC East) then we have go get some players that can help us do that. I think Landon will be a good fit for DC. I just will be waiting to see what happens…. Let me know your thoughts, would you drop the Skins if they let Landon wear #21?….

obj

Then came the jaw dropping trade of 2019 so far…..Giants Fans I am sorry…..like I really am because nobody could see this coming.

I remember just scrolling my phone on twitter right before it was announced, refreshed and well there it was…..

Odell Beckham Jr, has been traded to the Cleveland Browns to rejoin one of his former teammates. Jabril Peppers was also included in this trade as well. I had to read the headline at least 5 times to myself to comprehend what happened.

My first thought was Why? Odell had signed a long-term contract prior to this news which made it seem by his team that he wasn’t going anywhere. Why trade someone that you give the intention on keeping long term. I will never understand that logic. If someone can explain that to me, I am all ears…As I am still processing this news, my first thought is what is the real reason? It is going to come out sooner or later…. I rather know the truth then be strung along like people want me around when they don’t. That’s how I felt with this news. It’s like a smack in the face… and you can’t just be okay with it all of a sudden. Although Odell is still young, he isΒ  very smart and intellectual. He has built trust with his teammates, coaches, business executives. I think this is going to take some time for him to really process everything. He is going to have to rebuild his trust with his new team and they are going to trust him as well. With any change or big decision , there will be hesitation always. Guards and Walls will be up until they slowly are broken down. That will take time….I think once Odell has had some time to gather this thoughts, feelings, he will be okay. I don’t expect this to go away but he now has a chip on his shoulder. He will have a phenomenal season, he is talented and knows how to play the game! Hopefully this move to Cleveland will be good for him. Everything happens for a reason, he was supposed to be traded. We may not see the big picture now but it always comes together. Odell will be just fine!

This news sent shock-waves everywhere though….but come august the earthquake is coming….With moves everywhere, the upcoming NFL Season just became one to watch. It is entertainment but more importantly it is a business. These were executive business decisions that were made. Some we clearly understand and some will take time. It will all come together and with positive, flourishing results! πŸ™‚

I just wanted to take some time to share my thoughts….

As always I appreciate all my readers!- Leave a thought or comment

Lebron…Passing Jordan

bronjordan

First off before I dive in, just want to wish Steph Curry a Happy Birthday! and to all the mathematicians happy pi day!!…

Okay Okay…. I know what you are probably thinking this will be another Jordan/Lebron comparison post….nope not even lol.. This is going to be a celebration post!

3-6-19 will always be a special day for Lebron James who is now a Laker for those that don’t follow basketball. He passed his Idol Michael Jordan for 4th all time on the NBA’s scoring list. To me that is mind boggling in itself, the fact I have now been able to witness two NBA future hall of famers pass one of the greatest players ever. I saw Kobe Bryant do it while at college, I was sitting at the hookah lounge watching the game on my laptop the anticipation, excitement, and accomplishment was great to watch. I was in bed on twitter when Lebron passed Jordan, I missed the actual point but social media held me down and I still got to witness such an accomplishment.

Let’s go back a little bit to June 26,2003.. the day Lebron who was at the time age 18 and drafted #1 by the Cleveland Cavaliers. This was day one on a journey to everlasting greatness. The beginning of his career was proving doubters wrong but also showing us what he was capable of. At such a young age, he led the team to the playoffs demolishing The Washington Wizards during the Big 3 era….(tough losses and missed opportunities, another story for another time lol). He just showed not only me but the world he was here to stay and he wouldn’t be forgotten. We all know him by name and now if you mention him, the Jordan comparison isn’t too far behind but we are not doing that tonight lol.

#23….A distinct number that belongs to a 6 time champion, trailblazer for athletes, and someone who wouldn’t be denied an opportunity to win;Β  Man the flu couldn’t keep Michael Jordan off the court.Β  It was only fitting that Bron chooses to wear the same number as someone he grew up idolizing.

Fast forward…4 championships later..MVP’s…opening a school in Akron, Ohio (shout out to my home state)! to 3-6-19…hours before the game Lebron tweeted: “Can’t even front. This is going to be UNREAL!! Wow man”

The excitement, anxiousness, pride that James must have been feeling, I can only imagine very overwhelming. He was about to accomplish something most people who have ever doubted him didn’t think he would be able to do. Night in and night out Lebron has shown up and shown out for his team, willing them to win. He hates to lose…reminds me of someone else I know who hates to lose. lol.. As he hit a lay up to pass Jordan, I saw the relief on his face but then came the emotion finally accomplishing a goal. Raw emotion, I love anyone who isn’t afraid to show their emotions, I personally don’t like too but I’m learning to just embrace it.

Quick break: I sell cars, and each month we all have goals we set out to reach. A goal of mine was to sell 25+ cars for the month. May 31,2018… I finally reached my goal after working their for over a year. The amount of excitement, relief, stress I felt was all dedicated to the hardwork, tears(a few of them) and a smile. Whenever I reach a milestone, it is honestly never about me but those who helped me, trained me, encouraged me, criticized me, and even doubted me. I made it through and took a moment to celebrate!Β  That is goal I will always be proud of forever πŸ™‚

With that said, I am so proud of all the accomplishments Lebron has made and will continue to make. I am sure passing his idol and someone he respects is atop of his list. We will always remember him for that if nothing else, He was able to score enough points and play enough games to have the opportunity to come along side the greats! It is a new era, I am sure there will be someone else who get close to Lebron James, but for now we celebrate, admire such an achievement by one of the greats! Enjoy Lebron!! and Congratulations…all the hardwork, blood, sweat, tears, training sessions have paid off and will continue to pay off. πŸ™‚

Thanks you guys so much for reading!

Next Week: NFL Draft Recap….whew chile..lol…

See ya next week! πŸ™‚

Hi my name is: Zion Williamson

zion

You can’t deny God given talent! Hello Zion!

I have been hearing about Duke University’s Phenom Zion Williamson for awhile now and I figured I would dedicate some time to talking about him and my thoughts on his future! To only be a freshman forward and to average almost 30 p.p.g (points per game) night in and night out is something special. You know you are something to watch when celebrities and even President Obama stop by to watch you play. From what I have seen and read, Zion comes from a humble family who cheer him on and support his dreams.

We all know Zion is NBA bound, but as a freshman you never know how much potential someone has just by projecting them to leave school after their first year. There have been so many talks by analysts, fans, coaches, NBA players all giving their thoughts that he should come out and enter the draft. or even sit the rest of the season and not play. I think he should still continue to play while he can, his successes will come regardless of how outsiders feel. He has been gifted the talent to play a game I love so muchΒ  and should be able to play as long as he can. Zion has a bright future ahead! Zion has been projected the #1 overall 2019 draft choice for a team, do you think cutting himself short 3 more years of education and playing time to improve and get better would be beneficial?

The NBA is a business, a very lucrative business but can come with a cost. For example take John Wall, most people know John played for Kentucky for one year and left school for the draft.Β  He was drafted #1 overall by the Washington Wizards and has had some explosive years. The cost of coming out of school early for him has unfortunately in the last few years or so injuries, playoff losses, and constant rebuilding of a team. We can always ask what if? but there is no point in doing that lol. We can’t deny the success of the Wall Star, but is the money worth all the injuries and possible damage to your body long term. Zion has the body of Lebron James, so he definitely needs to take care of his body as we saw Feb.21 he left the game with a real bad knee sprain and exploding shoe. Again I ask, is potential worth bodily, long-term injury?

I am not saying this will tarnish all the great things Zion has done or will do but I would rather him take it easy and be 100% than risking further injury. Only time will tell what lies ahead for Zion’s future, which I know will be amazing things. I hope he listens to his heart and not the outside media. He at the end of the day knows what is best for him! Go Zion Go! I can’t wait until he is back on the court after his injury and playing again. He is definitely a player I will be watching! Get well soon πŸ™‚

Zion Williamson’s future is bright….I am excited and I know Coach K has a great one on his hands.

I appreciate all the feedback I have received from my blogs. πŸ™‚

Next Week: Lebron…Passing Michael Jordan….

D.C.’s Panda: Bradley Beal

brad

Hey! I know tonight is a late post but I wanted to write, I was very excited about this post! This week I am highlighting the one and only Bradley Beal! from the Washington Wizards. (If you know me I am a die hard fan) πŸ™‚

As many of you know, John Wall is out due to injury and Brad had to step up as leader and role model of the team. Not only has he dominated night in and night out during the month of February, he has put up some impressive MVP type numbers.

Night in and Night out, Brad has been averaging 30 points a game, almost 7 assists per night, and 5 rebounds a game. He has really showed up for his team and it has paid off.

Brad is known as the panda! He is tenacious, plays with his heart, but also has a softer side. He recently became a father over the summer to a beautiful son Bradley Beal II aka deuce with lovely girlfriend Kamiah Adams. Being able to see Brad as a dad is absolutely breath taking because now he has another reason, motivation to go hard every single night on the floor. One thing I love about him is that he gives his heart 1000% win or lose.

Although the Wizards are in the rebuilding phase yet again, the month of February gave a glimpse of hope for wiz fans around the league. Brad’s stellar performances this month have been off the charts and will definitely give some momentum closing out the season.

Keep it up Brad! Can’t wait to see how you follow up your dynamic February in March!!

Be sure to keep up with Brad on IG: @bradbeal3 or Twitter: @realdealbeal23

He is always positive and lots of fun and I just wanted to shine a quick light on him!

Short and sweet post tonight, as always I appreciate you guys for reading!

Feel to comment, offer suggestions feedback!
